A renowned Nigerian Media Researcher and Social Development Advocate, Mr Shakirudeen Bankole, has been elected and sworn-in as the fourth President of the Muslim Volunteers Foundation (TMVF).

TMVF was established in 2016 in Lagos, as a non-for-profit organisation, registered with the corporate affairs commission of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Its focus areas include humanitarian interventions against the scourge of public illiteracy, poverty, public Healthcare emergencies, Hunan and social rights abuses, and the propagation of the religion of Islam through the introduction and implementation of nondiscriminatory programmes and projects.

One of these efforts is its annual free Tutorial for indigent candidates of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), National Examination Council (NECO) and Joint Matriculation Examination Board (JAMB), where over 1,400 young students have been adequately prepared for excellent academic career paths.

“More than 500 of these students have now graduated, in flying colours from across citadels.of learning in the country,” said Alhaji Abdullateef Adeniran, the Immediate Past President, during his handing over to Shakirudeen.

Another of TMVF’s important intervention, is its Leadership and Mentoring Programme, a sideline event of the Annual Free Tutorial, which provided clarity, direction, and assistance to young , ambitious leaders in their quest for greatness.

“The programme is a weekly Townhall of sort where young and successful individuals are brought to engage the students on all other important and non-academic factors required for greatness,” said the President, Shakirudeen, who propounded the initiative.

“The programme has a segment where all issues of Sexual Harassment/Abuses, or Domestic Violence, are treated, professionally, with the future of the victim/survivor, safely guided,” he added.

Shakirudeen, a journalist, volunteer, and Project Manager with the Media Support Centre, a Lagos-based civil society organisation with focus on supporting media freedom, practice, and credible journalism, emerged the TMVF’s 4th President after a keenly contested election, organised by an electoral committee led by Alhaji Zhul-Nurain Ajakaiye.

During his sworn-in, Alhaji Yahyah Yommie Ajenifuja, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Organisation, urged him and the members of his Executives to lead with conscience, integrity, and compassion.

According to him, “Your job as the President is to inspire all of us, the members to be fired up to do great things and touch more lives.

“Yes, we have been impacting lives of our young and indigent Nigerians in the area of education; we have been making modest interventions on public Healthcare emergencies, crisscrossing the general hospitals to bail out some stranded out-bound patients or those on emergency, and many more; but with you as the next president, we want to do more. And we are promising to support you.

“We want you to deploy your social skills and networks in the civil space to forge the necessary alliances that would bring these dreams to fruition,” Ajenifuja, who doubles as the Pioneer President of the organisation, admonished.

The immediate past President, while handing over the mantle of leadership to the new president, said he had no doubt in his mind that with the help and support of his team, “the new President would have a great stewardship.’
