The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Germany says it has suspended with immediate effect a local staff attached to its security unit following allegations of sexual abuse and other serious criminal activities levelled against the said staff.

The staff, who was simply identified as Mr Martin(surname with-held) was suspended following  a trending video online which indicated that he was reportedly abusing a Nigerian married  lady sexually, in return for officially processing of her passport.

The New Diplomat’s checks reveal that the said staff demanded for sex from the married woman as a pre-condition for processing her passport.new Nigerian Embassy in Germany

According to the trending video, the highly agitated lady who pleaded with the said Martin to assist her while informing him that he was married, however,  proceeded to play along while videoing the said Martin.

While acting on a tip-off,  persons whom the highly offended lady had told, burst into the hotel room and caught the said Martin in his terrible state. The video which was obtained by The New Diplomat showed the said staff in his pants.

A statement by the Nigerian embassy in Berlin has responded to this latest development. The statement by HE Yusuf Tuggar, Nigeria’s Ambassador in Germany said: “we have a zero-tolerance policy towards abuse of office and especially of sexual misconduct. Our full resources are being deployed to investigate a very serious incident and any other abuses that this inquiry may reveal.

“The investigation is taking place with all the urgency and diligence that this very serious situation demands. When due process is complete, any guilty party can expect to face the full weight of the law. Our heartfelt sympathies are with any innocent victims of abuse.”

The New Diplomat’s checks reveal that the Nigerian Embassy in Berlin has built an excellent reputation as a great, first-class and top-of-the range Embassy whose team are not just patriotic and competent but also most spectacular.

Many Nigerians in Germany who attest to the venerable accomplishments of the Nigerian Embassy in Germany said the case of Martin is simply an isolated one, and should not be used as a standard measurement tool.

Many Nigerians resident in Germany said Ambassador Tuggar and his team are a great asset to Nigeria and that their commitment, dedication and patriotism are simply awesome.

In their statement, they said the case of Martin should be dealt with as an isolated matter accordingly while the Embassy undertakes a thorough investigation into the said incident which has been trending on certain social media channels.
