Former Super Eagles’ safe hands and famous African goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama said Nigeria is not lacking in any of the football departments as they get set to play Ghana in the return leg of the World Cup play-off in Abuja on Tuesday.
“Nigeria has a complete team. The Nigerian team is good enough to progress to the World Cup finals.”
The former international and French Club goalkeeper trainer emphasized that all that the players including goalkeepers need is the backing of the coaches, Nigerian football administrators, and fans’ support to boost the needed confidence in the players.
“We may not have another Vincent Enyeama but the lads in goalkeeping departments are good and requires confidence from the team managers.”
In the first leg encounter in Kumasi, Francis Uzoho gave a commanding performance that douse the fears of most Nigerians.
Some football followers said Uzoho has given Maduka Okoye a spot on the Super Eagles’ bench.
Nigerian fans were equally pleased with the performances of Troost-Ekong, Balogun and Joe Aribo.
However, the Super Eagles fans expected more from the midfield department as they continue to rue the absence of Wilfred Ndidi.
For the forwards, Nigerians expect to see aggression and early goals from the array of renowned attackers that Ghanaians and Black Stars envy.
At the Baba Yara Stadium last Friday, most Nigerians were disappointed with the wingers claiming they were absent from the party. Moses Simon and Samuel Chukwueze were seen as fluid in their creativity against the Black Star’s physical defenders.
Victor Osimhen was given a little pat on the back for fighting for balls more than his compatriots in the attacking department.
On its part, the Nigerian government has declared free bus ride and half-day work to enable full capacity support for the Super Eagles’ victory.
20,000 free tickets have been sponsored out of the 60,000 seats at Moshood Abiola stadium. Also, a statement making the rounds on social media indicates work free hours had been declared to encourage mammoth turn out of Super Eagles 12th players– the fans.
“There is a need to mobilise support for the Nigerian Team. Consequently, I am directed to inform you that all offices will be closed at 1.00 pm on Tuesday 29th March 2022.
“Permanent Secretaries are required to give the circular wide publicity to achieve the desired result.” The circular signed by Dr Ngozi Onwudiwe, PS, Office of the Head of Service of the Federation reads in part.
