Popular Nigerian gospel singer and pastor Nathaniel Bassey is set to perform at the Presidential Inaugural Prayer Breakfast organised for United States President-elect Donald Trump on January 20, 2025, in Washington, D.C.
The Akwa Ibom-born cleric announced the invitation on his Instagram page, sharing a poster of the event and writing: “Let’s raise a sound in America. See you on January 20, 2025.”
This event, which was described as a non-political, faith-based gathering, aims to offer prayers and worship as a form of spiritual support for the US government and the incoming administration.
The event, which will take place at the Waldorf Astoria Presidential Ballroom, New York, US, is hosted by popular American pastor Reverend Merrie Turner.
Other distinguished speakers and guests include Dr. Alveda King, Pastor Mario Bramnick, Revivalist Rebecca Macchi, and Dr. Dominiquae Bierman.
The New Diplomat reports that Trump is set for his swearing-in as the 47th President of the United States. The inauguration is scheduled for January 20, 2025.
The ceremony will take place at the West Front of the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C.
Trump will be sworn in by Chief Justice John Roberts of the US Supreme Court.
This comes after Trump won the presidential election of 2024.
Trump secured 312 electoral votes, comfortably surpassing the 270 needed to win the presidency.
He won the popular vote with approximately 49.7% of the vote, defeating outgoing Vice President Kamala Harris.
