The group which focused on addressing the Northern region’s challenges was led to the meeting by former Kano State Governor, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau.

Sambo emphasized that insecurity is escalating poverty and inequality across the North and called for collective efforts to foster peace and development.

The former Vice President to former President Goodluck Jonathan noted that the escalating insecurity in the Northern part of the country is potentially detrimental to the stability and wellbeing of all.

It would be recalled that The League of Northern Democrats, was recently launched by Northern elites, seeking to tackle subject matters such as insecurity, poverty, and illiteracy in the region.

One time Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Dambazau, also echoed Sambo’s concerns, highlighting the need for urgent action to address the deteriorating conditions in Northern Nigeria.

The League says it has scheduled a summit in Kaduna for October, with Vice President Kashim Shettima expected to attend.
