President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday held a closed-door meeting with the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, at the State House, Abuja.
The New Diplomat reports that Emefiele has been a regular visitor to the Aso Villa since the controversies surrounding the old N1000, N500 and N200 notes began.
The meeting, it was learnt was not unconnected with the current cash crisis associated with the currency swap introduced in October, 2022 by the CBN.
There has been massive outpouring of anger and uncertainty in the country over the naira redesign.
This was further worsened by an earlier judgment given by the Supreme Court barring the CBN from implementing the February 10 deadline for old Naira notes.
While the apex court had given its judgement, the CBN was yet to react or give directives, fuelling uncertainty
