The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) says it has launched an investigation into Christ Mercy Land Deliverance Ministries, led by Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin, over claims of producing and selling miracle water and soap.
These products, according to NAFDAC, are being marketed with healing promises, including claims of curing barrenness, and are alleged to be registered with NAFDAC.
The Agency maintained that its investigation began in August 2024 after NAFDAC received multiple petitions from concerned citizens about the ministry’s products, specifically Miracle Water and Miracle Soap, which were advertised with alleged exaggerated miracle claims.
The ministry was said to have showcased these products on social media, claiming they could heal conditions like barrenness, with women reportedly able to conceive twins after using the soap.
In a statement on Sunday, NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, clarified that none of these products are registered with the agency. The issue came to light after NAFDAC received petitions from concerned citizens. Upon investigation, the Delta State Coordinator of NAFDAC claimed to she covertly purchased the Miracle Water from the ministry and confirmed that it was sold without proper registration. The ministry’s officials denied producing the miracle products when confronted by NAFDAC investigators. Despite evidence of the purchase, they claimed the ministry was only associated with spiritual water, not the advertised miracle items. Efforts by NAFDAC to inspect the production site were allegedly obstructed by the ministry, prompting further investigation. The agency has since sealed a related water production facility, Globod Table Water, in connection with the case.
Upon receipt of the complaints, NAFDAC dispatched its Delta State Coordinator to covertly purchase the Miracle Water.
NAFDAC has warned the public against patronizing these unregistered miracle products and emphasized that the agency relies on scientific validation before approving any products for public use. According to the Agency, investigation into the ministry’s activities continues as NAFDAC remains committed to safeguarding public health.
