The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has graduated another batch of 25 officers from the Young Officers’ Course (YOC) at the NAF Military Training Centre (MTC), Kaduna. The 3-month course was aimed at further developing the capacity of the young NAF officers for future leadership tasks. Accordingly, during the YOC, the officers were groomed in subjects such as General Service Knowledge, staff duties, asymmetric warfare and Base Defence Concept to enhance their effectiveness and efficiency.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony on 29 September 2017, the Guest of Honour (GOH), the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, represented by the Air Secretary, Air Vice Marshal Gali Abdulwahab, urged the graduating officers to ensure that the knowledge gained during the course is properly utilised in their future endeavours. The Air Secretary also advised the officers to justify the resources invested in them by executing their duties diligently and professionally at all times.

Highlights of the graduation ceremony were the presentation of certificates and awards to deserving graduating officers who distinguished themselves during the Course. At the occasion, Flight Lieutenant SO Nyimeone received the Chief of the Air Staff Award for overall best officer on the course. It is worthy to note that the current NAF leadership has continued to focus on all aspects of air power related training, both at home and abroad, towards improving professionalism for effective, efficient and timely delivery of air power to meet the security needs of the nation, in line with the constitutional provisions.
