As days to the general election shrink each passing moment with the ticking of the clock, Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate and the Delta State Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has urged the different ethnic groups to rescue the state from sycophants and cheerleaders, masquerading as leaders.

Senator Omo-Agege who made this declaration at the weekend during his ward to ward campaign in Gbokoda, a riverine community in Warri South local council, stated that the Itsekiri ethnic nationality cannot be afford to remain silent in the face of clear evil, barefaced deprivation being meted out to them in particular and the state at large.

The APC flag bearer noted in dismay that even in the midst of this untold hardships orchestrated by this current administration, people of the Itsekiri extraction and few persons from other councils continue to cheer on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and his cohorts in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

While speaking to the Itsekiri people at Gbokoda, Omo-Agege lamented the glaring decay in the entire riverine communities, stated that there are nothing on ground to prove that Gbokoda is an oil producing area.

His words: “The bulk of the money we receive by way of 13 per cent oil derivation is a function of this local government, Warri North. But look at the area, is there any development that is commensurate with your contribution? ”

Senator Omo-Agege further noted in dismay that despite this political orchestrated marginalization, a handful of Itsekiri people who, for personal aggrandisement still clamour for Governor Okowa and perpetuation of poverty in the state.

He reminded the people that such stance has demonstrated by them thus far, only allowed the Governor and his gang of political charlatans to continue to use their money to enslave them.

” It is your contribution to the national economy that qualified Delta State to receive the already squandered ₦3.5 trillion collected for the past seven and a half years by the Governor Okowa’s administration,” he said.

The Deputy Senate President disclosed that despite this humongous amount of money received from the federation Account, the Okowa and Sheriff led government have borrowed over N400 billion.

He stated that Okowa didn’t consider any portion of the Itsekiri nation important enough to site a tertiary institution, adding that despite this glaring neglect, the likes of Michael Diden (Ejele) and Emmanuel Uduaghan never considered it expedient to voice their anger over the poor state of affairs in the area but rather opted to be dancing after Okowa.

“I am angry and I know the Itsekiri people are angry. You have a chance to remedy this problem and make sure that everything that PDP and Okowa represent must be erased with your votes on election day.

“I am certain that Okowa has not stepped a foot on Gbokoda and he has been governor for seven and a half years. Meanwhile, this is where the crude is produced. He won’t even come here to see the very deplorable condition his administration has left the people,” he lamented.

Earlier, APC Chairman, Warri North local government area, Omatseye Asabase, pledged to deliver all the communities under his jurisdiction to the party in next year general elections.
