More Tributes continue to pour in for the late former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Prince Bola Ajibola who reportedly died in the early hours of Sunday morning as President Muhammadu Buhari, Senate President, Ahmad Lawan and Speaker, House of Representative, Honourable Femi Gbajabiamilia eulogized the renowned luminary.

Buhari on Sunday, condoled with the family of former Attorney General and Minister of Justice who passed on at the age of 89 afte a brief illness.

While commiserating with the legal community in Nigeria and worldwide, President Buhari notes that the outstanding lawyer and Eminent Jurist used his God given knowledge, intellect and talent to advocate for justice, fairness and equity in all his undertakings within and outside Nigeria.

The legendary arbitrator was at different times, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (1984-1985), President, The World Association of Judges, Chairman, Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria and President, World Bank Administrative Tribunal among other notable accomplishments.

Buhari in a codolence letter by his Special Adviser on Media & Publicity, Femi Adesina, averred that the late Ajibola, having risen to the pinnacle of his career, took his brilliance in law practice to the International Court of Justice at The Hague, where he served meritoriously between 1991 and 1994. He was also the Nigeria High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, 1999 to 2002.

“His contributions to the development of our legal system cannot be overstated, serving as the Attorney General and Minister for Justice at a critical period in the nation’s history. His patriotic inclinations, integrity and passion for service and advancement of humanity will continue to resonate after him,” the President said.

Buhari also sympathises with the government and people of Ogun State as they mourn this illustrious citizen for the educational and social development he brought to his community and environs.

He prays that the Almighty will grant him Aljannah.

In same vein, the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has described the late elder statesman as an erudite lawyer and international jurist who left bold imprints on the study and practice of Law both in and outside the shores of Nigeria.

The Senate President notes that as a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association(NBA), former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice and one time Judge of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), Prince Ajibola impacted tremendously on his legal profession and will not be forgotten.

Lawan cimmiserates with the people and government of Ogun State, and prays to God to grant his gentle soul eternal rest and grant his loved ones the fortitude to bear the great loss.

Reacting to the sudden dimised of the renowned lawyer and a former Attorney-General of the Federation, Prince Bola Ajibola, the Speaker of the House of Representatives Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila, has said that the Nigerian legal profession has lost one of its finest and most authoritative voices.

He recalled that the late legal luminary was instrumental to the entrenchment of law and order for decades in Nigeria and across the globe.

Gbajabiamila said it is on record that many Nigerian lawyers have undergone the tutelage of the late Prince Bola Ajibola, who was a one-time president of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA).

The speaker noted that the late Prince Bola Ajibola, who passed away around midnight of Sunday, April 9, made Nigeria and Nigerians proud when he served in various capacities at the International Court of Justice (ICJ); President of the Jurists Association of the World Association of Judges; member of the United Nations Compensation Commission on Iraq’s Invasion of Kuwait, among many others.

Gbajabiamila said Prince Bola Ajibola’s contributions to the legal profession in Nigeria and the world would remain indelible in the sands of time.

Speaker Gbajabiamila sent his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Prince Bola Ajibola, the entire Egbaland, the people and Government of Ogun State over what he described as a monumental loss.

He equally prayed to Almighty Allah to have mercy on the soul of the late legal icon and grant him a peaceful resting place in Jannatul Firdaus.

In addition to the many positions he held, the late Prince Bola Ajibola was the Oluomo of Egbaland and Olori Omo Oba of Owu Kingdom until his demise.
