In a night of recognition and celebration, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, has been honoured with the prestigious Minister of the Year 2024 award by Independent Newspapers, a Lagos-based Newspaper.

The minister received the prestigious honour during a grand ceremony held at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos on Saturday.

Adding to the aviation sector’s triumphant moment, Professor Charles Anosike, Director-General of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), was also named Aviation CEO of the Year 2024.

The New Diplomat reports that the Minister of the Year award marks Keyamo’s fourth accolade in the span of a month, a testament to his dedication and great commitment to the transformation of the aviation landscape. In addition, his sterling accomplishments in fostering innovation and workers satisfaction in the aviation sector within the framework of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

It would be recalled that in February 2025, Keyamo won the 2024 New Telegraph Best Minister Award.

Also, in March 2025, the Aviation Minister was honoured with the prestigious ATQ Star Leadership Award in recognition of his outstanding leadership and contributions to the development of Nigeria’s aviation sector.

In a statement released by Tunde Moshood, Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister, Keyamo expressed gratitude for the recognition but emphasized that his focus remains on delivering sustainable reforms.

“This award is not just for me but for the entire team working tirelessly to reposition Nigeria’s aviation industry as a global player. We are committed to ensuring safety, efficiency, and economic growth through aviation,” Keyamo was quoted as saying.

Also, the Independent Newspapers lauded Keyamo’s transformative policies, noting that his efforts in modernizing infrastructure, enhancing safety protocols, and fostering partnerships with international stakeholders, are salutary.
