Professor Kingsley Moghalu, a former Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has promised to tackle insecurity in the country if elected president in the 2023 election, nothing that he would start by increasing men of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) by 300 per cent when he assumes office.

Moghalu, who made the pledge when he purchased the N25M Normination and Expression of Interest Forms under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Tuesday in Abuja, lamented the state of insecurity and inflation in the country, adding that Nigeria needs a detribalised leader to solve these challenges.

“As president, I will reform the Nigeria Police Force. I will increase the police from 250,000 to one million operatives. It is through effective intelligence gathering that we can fight terrorism and win.

“As president, I will reform the Nigeria Police Force. I will increase the police from 250,000 to one million operatives. It is through effective intelligence gathering that we can fight terrorism and win.

“We will take out whatever threatens the nation’s security, because the political will to secure Nigeria is there,” he emphasized.

Moghalu also revealed that he would reposition CBN to deal with inflation in the country.

He said: “Inflation is the most act on the poor. It erodes the ability of households to save and devalues the purchasing power of the currency. If there’s high inflation, then it is a performance failure. When I become the president, I will ensure we have an independent CBN with competent leadership.”

The Political Economist contested for presidency in 2019 under the Young Progressive Party (YPP) where he came 14th position.
