Following her confession that she indeed forged her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result, the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has directed that Mmesoma Joy Ejikeme, a student of Anglican Girls Secondary School be handed over to the State Guidance Counselor for counselling.
Prof. Soludo in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Ministry of Education, Nnaemeka Egwuonwu, ordered the immediate commencement of psychological counselling and therapy sessions for the teenager.
The directive follows the recommendations of the Committee set up by Anambra State Government to investigate the matter, in the face of the claims and counterclaims between Mmesoma and JAMB which elicited interest and generated controversy and misgivings in the general public.
It would be recalled that Mmesoma had told an eight-member panel that she deliberately altered her actual score from 249 to 362 using her phone, but gave no further reasons for her actions.
The committee constituted by the Anambra State Government to look into the matter under the following terms of reference; Review Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma’s JAMB Results and associated documents; Conduct interviews with relevant parties, including Elikeme Joy Mmesoma, JAMB Officials and any other individual(s) involved in the process; and Provide recommendations based on the findings of the investigation had recommended that Mmesoma be giving counselling.
