It has been a pot pourri of reactions since the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC announced postponement of the governorship and State Assembly elections earlier slated for March 11 to the 18th of same month.

While some argued that it would give INEC ample time to prepare adequately for the election in order to guard against pitfalls of the presidential election, others were of the opinion that it would create more time for the Commission to perfect its rigging Strategies for the highest bidder.

But in the middle of this controversy are the voters who are currently counting the cost of the postponement of the democratic exercise.

A journalist who would not want his name in print, told The New Diplomat that he had already paid for a room in a hotel to the state where he was assigned to cover the election.

“As I speak to you now, the management of the hotel refused to refund my money, and stated that the expiration of my booking period, I will pay again if I’m interested in the room.

“According to them, they said I deprived other customers from getting access to the room because I have already paid for it. But that is the confusion we are confronted with,” he said.

Timothy Ogor a commercial bus driver at the popular Ojota motor park, disclosed that he just effected repairs in his bus to withstand the rush of Passengers traveling out of Lagos to vote in the town or city where they registered.

A handful of varsity students interviewed by the The New Diplomat, expressed fear that the election postponement may impact on their resumption date, and affect their academic for the semester.

A politician, Chris Akpos hailed INEC decision to postpone the election as it create more time for politicians to prepare for the election.

A trader at the popular Mile 12 market, Usman want INEC to expedite the election process so that Nigerians would resume normal life again.

A banker, Tony Ifedi said that the naira crunch will fizzled out with the election, adding that the move behind the New banknotes was predicted on politics.

However, INEC has declared that the deferment of the election does add any cost the Commission.
