President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have expressed sadness over the fatal crash of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Beechcraft KingAir B350i aircraft on Sunday in Abuja which claimed all seven lives onboard.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, President Buhari on behalf of the Federal Government, extended his heartfelt condolences to family members, friends and colleagues of those who died as a result of the tragedy.

Buhari in the statement joined the Nigerian Air Force, the military and other Nigerians in mourning the unfortunate loss of the dedicated and courageous personnel, who died in the line of duty.

He said, “while investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing, the safety of the Nigerian airspace remains a key priority of the government.”

Buhari also prayed that God will comfort the bereaved families and nation, and grant the souls of the departed peaceful rest.

Similarly, the APC in a statement released by the National Secretary, Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee CECPC, Sen. John James Akpanudoedehe said the crash affirmed one of the numerous sacrifices of the Nigerian Armed Forces in ensuring that the country is safe.

The APC expressed its confidence in the investigation on the cause of the incident earlier directed by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao.

The ruling party therefore extended it condolences to the family of the deceased and the Nigerian Air Force.

The statement reads: “the unfortunate and fatal plane crash brings to fore the tireless work, sacrifices and hazards faced by our armed forces and other security services in their daily efforts to keep the country safe

“As directed by the Chief of Air Staff, we are confident of a quick and thorough investigation into the plane crash.

“We extend our condolences to the Nigerian Air Force, particularly the families, loved ones and colleagues of the seven Air Force personnel that lost their lives in Sunday’s plane crash following a reported engine failure. May their souls rest in peace”, the statement added.
