- Resumes Duties At Oxford Varsity As First African Distinguished Professor
As Nigerians continue to distinguish themselves globally in virtually all spheres of human endeavors, Professor Chika Okeke-Agulu has joined the league, as the world acclaimed prestigious Oxford University in the United kingdom (UK) hired his services as a Professor of repute.
Until his recent appointment, the Nigerian distinguished scholar was a renowned professor at the Princeton University. By this announcement, Professor Okeke-Agulu who hails from Umuoji in Idemili North local government area of Anambra state in Nigeria, becomes the first African to assume this exalted position since the chair was endowed in 1870.
Though announced last year as Slade Professor of Arts for the 2023 academic session, Professor Okeke-Agulu has began teaching at the prestigious varsity since last week.
According to the Education Metro News world, Professor Okeke-Agulu consistently sets Nigeria on the path of global recognition for something good, and this easily proven by his achievements over the course of his career.
Professor Okeke-Agulu has written globally acclaimed books on such distinguished African artists as El Anatsui, Ibiora Udechukwu, Demas Nwoko and Yusuf Grillo.
“Chika has helped to bring the works of these great men to the attention of the world and interpreted them in a most uncanny way,” notes Ndidi Dike, a top Nigerian Sculptor and Painter who also graduated from the same department with Professor Okeke-Agulu at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
