Following his elevation to the rank of Senior Advocate Of Nigeria (SAN) on Monday, November 28, 2023, 37-year-old Michael Jonathan Numa, from Bayelsa State has emerged as Nigeria’s youngest SAN.

Numa was among the newly sworn-in Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) approved by the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC) in Nigeria, recently.

Michael Numa schooled at Delta State University, Abraka where he obtained the Bachelor of Law In 2008.

He was called to the Bar as a Barrister And Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 2010.

In 2013, Michael obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M) in International Business Law from the prestigious Queen Mary University of London

He also completed the International Comparative Arbitration course at Queen Mary University.

In 2018, Michael concluded a certificate program in U.S. Business Law from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law.

Michael Numa is the Managing Partner of M.J Numa & Partners LLP. He heads the Corporate /Commercial Unit of the Firm with a particular passion for Intellectual Property Law practice and Energy Law.

Prior to his transition to M.J Numa & Partners, he served as the Managing Partner of Karina Tunyan & Company; the Pioneer Law Firm in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja (Nigeria’s Capital City).

A post on his LinkedIn profile stated that he has represented a wide range of Foreign And Local Corporations as well as High Net individuals before all levels of Court in Nigeria and before Arbitral Tribunals.

Aside from litigating, he is a columnist in the THISDAY LAWYER called- THE CANVASS, a column which features in the frontline newspaper every Tuesday.

He has dethroned the current holder of the title of Youngest SAN title, Prof Damilola Olawuyi, 38, who also at 37 became the youngest academic to become a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in 2021.
