The Media Director of the All Progressives Congress, APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Bayo Onanuga has described the sudden replacement of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP National Chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu following a recent Court ruling that endorsed his suspension by his ward as medicine after death.
Onanuga who made this declaration while reacting to the shocking announcement of new acting National Chairman of the PDP, Ambassador Umar Damagum, said the party opted to take medicine after death as it drops Iyorchia Ayu.
His words continued, “Like medicine after death, the PDP has dropped its National chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, the reason the presidential candidate lost the support of G5 governors.
“In an announcement, the NWC said Ayu has been replaced by Ambassador Umar Damagum, the deputy chairman north.
” Iyorchia Ayu was given the boot following his suspension by his ward in Benue State.
“Thereafter a court barred him from parading himself as party chairman.
“The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at an emergency meeting today, Tuesday, 28 March, 2023, acknowledged the Order of the Benue State High Court, dated March 27, 2023, with regards to the Chairmanship position of our great Party,” the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba, said in a statement.
“After a careful consideration of the Court Order and in line with Section 45 (2) of the Constitution of the PDP (as amended in 2017), the NWC resolved that the Deputy National Chairman (North) His Excellency, Amb. Umar Ililya Damagum assumes the National Chairmanship of our Party in an acting capacity with effect from today, Tuesday, March 28, 2023.”
