President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki on Sunday urged Nigerian workers to be more committed in their service to the nation especially at this time of economic strain.

He said the growth of the economy and overall development of the country depends on how much support workers give to Government’s policies, programmes and projects.
In a solidarity message to mark the May Day celebrations signed by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, Saraki expressed his appreciation and commended Nigerian workers and the organized Labour movement in the country for their contributions to the nation’s economic growth and overall development.

He said from the pre-independence era till now, the Labour movement has provided the backbone for the survival of the country.
He also lauded their resilience and support for the change movement that brought in the All Progressives Congress (APC) government led by President Muhammadu Buhari to power at the Federal level.
He reiterated his promise that the Senate will continue to partner with the leadership of the organized Labour in the country in addressing issues of national importance as it did during the 2016 budget process and when the electricity tariff rate was increased by the Distribution companies.
Saraki said: “No doubt we are not in the best of times as a nation, but with cooperation, dedication and perseverance we can turn our economy around for good and the contribution of every Nigerian worker is key to the realization of this dream.
“This is why I urge you to remain steadfast and faithful to the efforts being made by the present administration to revive the economy and put Nigeria on the path of growth for the benefit of all Nigerians,” he said.
He also prayed that the economic recovery programmes of President Buhari will soon bring prosperity to all workers in particular and Nigerians in general.
