France international and Juventus midfielder, Blaise Matuidi, has admitted that he was panic-striken fearing for his own  personal life as well as those of family members and friends after he tested positive for Covid-19 Pandemic.

Matuidi was one of the Serie A players to contract the deadly virus, including Juventus teammates, Daniele Rugani and Paulo Dybala. The 33 year old who has fully recovered after receiving medical care as an asymptomatic patient recalls how the experience dealt a huge blow on” his psyche.

“When I tested positive, I couldn’t even go out shopping. It made me psychotic,” Matuidi told YouTube channel, Bros Stories.

He added: “You always try to make sure people aren’t too close, you have to be mentally strong. It’ll take time, this is a new situation for all of us.”

Matuidi further noted: “I had no symptoms but, as soon as I heard the news, I was in shock. I was in total panic, I feared for my family and friends.

“It was difficult for them, but I was able to reassure them. It’s not a good time, we really want this to end as soon as possible. I ask myself what will happen to football and everyday life.’

Matuidi is expected to resume training with his Juve teammates on Monday, 4 May as all Serie A clubs regroup ahead of resumption of the 2019/2020 campaign.Rec
