Cities and towns in Texas are seeing a population surge. Seven of the 10 fastest-growing incorporated areas in 2023, each with a minimum population of 20,000, are located in Texas.

In fact, Celina and Fulshear, Texas, grew their populations by more than 25%, pushing them closer to the 50,000 mark in 2023.

Here are the 15 fastest growing American cities by percentage population gains.

Georgetown, Texas grew by the same numeric amount as Celina and Fulshear (approximately 9,000 people) but this translated into an 11% increase for the more populous city, which is closing in on the 100,000 mark.

Aside from Texas, cities in FloridaArkansas, and Tennessee also populate the list, indicating that the American South as a whole is gaining residents.

This has been an ongoing trend. For example, Georgetown, TX, grew by 14% between 2021–2022. And Kyle, TX (just outside the top 10 fastest-growing cities) grew by 11% that same year.

Meanwhile, the three largest American cities—New York, LA, and Chicago—all saw population decreases in 2022–23. However, Houston, Texas and Phoenix, Arizona (4th and 5th by population) gained around 10,000 residents each.
