Hon. Aliyu Betara, the lawmaker representing Biu/Bayo/Shani/Kwaya/Kusar Federal Constituency of Borno State in the House of Representatives has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic flood that recently struck Maiduguri, Borno’s capital, leading to the displacement of thousands of residents and loss of lives.

In a compassionate gesture, Betara announced a donation of N100 million to support the victims.

The Federal lawmaker made this known in a statement released in Abuja

Betara said: “I am deeply grieved by the scale of destruction and suffering caused by this disaster. It is truly unfortunate.

“I commend the state government for its prompt response and efforts to alleviate the effects of the flood. Necessary interventions will be made through the appropriate institutions to ensure the rehabilitation of the victims.”

Betara also said his donation will play a crucial role in supporting the recovery of affected communities.

It would be recalled that Maiduguri was hit by devastating floods due to a breakdown of the Alau Dam, severely affecting the local population.
