Following the election petition filed by the Labour Party, challenging the victory of President-elect Bola Tinubu in the February 2023 presidential election, the legal team of LP on Monday arrived INEC headquarters to access documents needed to challenge the outcome of the election result.

A statement released by INEC Chair via his Twitter handle reads “INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu today assured the Labour Party’s Legal Team that the Commission will provide all the documents it requested for to prosecute its case.

“INEC has nothing to hide. Documents available at the HQ will be given immediately.”

It would be recalled that the Labout Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi on 2 March, addressed a press conference in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital rejecting the outcome of the poll.

The former Anambra governor vowed to challenge the result of the election in court, saying he, rather than Bola Tinubu won the election.

According to the result declared by INEC, Peter Obi came third behind Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party.
