After missing three Federal Executive Council, FEC meetings and speculations about his state of health, President Muhammadu Buhari is back on his desk at the presidential villa in Abuja.

Upon resumption on, the president held separate meetings with Abubakar Malami, attorney-general of the federation, and Maikanti Baru, group managing director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation (NNPC).

He said the final report of the committee probing Babachir Lawal, suspended secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), Ayo Oke, director-general of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), would submit its report on Wednesday.

However, he refused to speak on whether the committee would yield to the calls of not making the report public

In a separate meeting, the Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr Maikati Baru, on Tuesday briefed President Muhammadu Buhari on the activities of the corporation and its subsidiaries.

He said he briefed the president on the activities of the corporation and its subsidiaries and on the relative stability in the nation’s oil and gas sector in recent time.

He said the president expressed delight over the reported stability in the oil and gas sector.

“I briefed Mr President on the state of the NNPC and its subsidiaries and also nationally to get him briefed on the situation of fuel supply, crude oil productions, gas production and by extension, ability to supply gas to the power sector,” he said.

“We had an extensive briefing as you could see; I passed here over two hours. I spent quite some time with him to discuss these national issues.

“He was happy with the state of the corporation and told us to continue with the efforts that we are doing and if we need any executive attention we should not hesitate to come back to him.

Baru disclosed that following the peace and stability being enjoyed in the nation’s oil and gas sector, the nation recorded two million barrels of crude oil production on May 2.

He said the NNPC had no plan to increase the prices of its products as being speculated.
