The Lagos State Government has taken action against 176 housing estates across Eti-Osa, Ajah, Ibeju-Lekki, Epe, and other areas, declaring them illegal for operating without mandatory layout approvals.

The announcement was made on Monday by the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

The Ministry also disclosed that the development signals a robust push to enforce urban planning regulations and align with the state’s T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda for sustainable development.

 

 

Engr. Oluwole Sotire, Permanent Secretary of the Office of Physical Planning, revealed that these estates, including prominent developments like Adron Homes in Elerangbe, Aina Gold Estate in Okun-Folu, Diamond Estate in Eputu, Prime Water View Garden in Ikate Elegushi, and Royal View Estate in Ikota, failed to secure required approvals.

 

 

This non-compliance, according to Sotire, undermines Lagos’ vision for a functional, organized, and resilient smart city.

 

The statement reads in part: “The Lagos State Government has identified 176 illegal estate developments, predominantly located in the Eti-Osa, Ajah, Ibeju-Lekki, and Epe axis of the state, and has given them a 21-day ultimatum to process their layout approvals.

 

“These estates, deemed illegal due to their failure to obtain layout approvals from the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, were listed in a document published by the Ministry on Monday.”
