The Chief of Lagos State, Justice Opeyemi Oke, has reiterated her commitment to restoring public confidence in the State Judiciary by eradicating corruption within the system.

Justice Oke, who stated this during the presentation of the anti-corruption crusade flyers by the National Convener, Fight Against Corruption in the Judiciary (FIACIJ), stressed that the resolve to fight corruption in the State judiciary remains firm and resolute.

She informed that it is regrettable that the misconduct of a few individuals has smeared the image of the judiciary system thereby creating an impression that all judiciary officials are corrupt.

In her words, “It is regrettable that the corrupt practices of some few individuals whom l call unscrupulous elements continue to soil the image of the judiciary thereby necessitating the general public to perceive and term the entire judiciary as corrupt”.

The Chief Judge averred that her administration will dedicate time and resources to eliminate corruption in the judiciary and warned that the days of the few unscrupulous elements that dent the image of the judiciary is over.

She further stated that since the launch and presentation of her mission and vision statement as well as core values, more lawyers and litigants have put on the armour of boldness by petitioning her office on any irregularities.

Justice Oke also commended the National Convener, Fight Against Corruption in the Judiciary, Bayo Akinlade for supporting her vision by printing over 20,000 anti-corruption flyers for the distribution to judiciary officers and members of the public.

Responding, Bayo Akinlade said that the fight against corruption in the judiciary is one that everyone must join in order to sanitise the entire system and restore confidence in the State judiciary.

He, therefore, assured the Chief Judge of his support for her quest to sanitize the judiciary and urged officials to shun corruption under any guise.
