Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, has casted his vote at ward A4 Oke Balogun, Epe for the Lagos East Senatorial district bye-election.

However, the election recorded low turnout of voters in many areas of the district including Ibeju-Lekki, Epe and Eredo LGAs

Also, according to field reports from areas in Shomolu, Kosofe, Ikorodu, voters simply shunned the poll as residents went about their normal businesses.

The bye-election in Lagos east was necessitated by the death of late Senator Adebayo Osinowo, representing the senatorial district at the National Assembly. He died of Covid-19 complications in June this year.

The voter turnout was abysmal in many polling units, with field reports suggesting majority of the voters who casted their ballots were senior citizens.

According to INEC, voting is expected to end by 2:30 pm across polling units in country where the bye-election is taking place.
