In spite of the odds against him, Comrade Sadiq Olawale Wahab, who is vying for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly in the forthcoming Bye-election in Kosofe Constituency II, has continued to engage electorate, reiterating to them that he is far better than his two fellow contenders and should be given a fair chance at the poll.
Contesting on the platform of African Action Congress (AAC), Olawale, popularly known as Walexy, a Techprenuer, appears to be the underdog, contesting against heavyweights like Hon. Sikiru Alebiosu of Peoples Democratic Party, and Hon. Obafemi Saheed of the ruling All Progressive Congress.
Walexy said in a bid to beat the odds, he has been working tirelessly, combing the nooks and crannies of the voting blocs to engage the electorates.

According to him, “at the end of the day, the election should determine the winner. And election is a game of number. Unlike the pomposity of the other two candidates, I have continued to engage the electorates, canvassing for their votes and familiarise them to my manifestoes.
“For example, we are on a campaign trail today. One team is currently at Ketu/Shangisha, while the other team is at Mile 12 and Owode area. This is a massive rally, supported by the National Executives. At the local levels, we have been engaging on the street, one-on-one, and Town Hall Meetings,” he said.
A graduate of Computer Science, and former Youth Coordinator for his party in the last presidential elections, Walexy said his interest in politics was to help push into legislation, bills and policies that would assist Startups and Small and Medium Scale Enterprises to grow.
The 30-year-old Co-Founder of 234Expresd Ltd and Founder, WASAD Technology, said he is also ready to leverage on technology to help mainstream most Startups and SMSEs, an economic backbone, mostly driven by youths and said to currently account for about half of the nation’s economic wealth.

Speaking with our reporter, the young politician said unlike insinuations making the rounds, he is actually not an opportunist who wants to take advantage of the #NotTooYoungToRule Policy or the takeaway from the recent #EndSARS Protests.
According to him, “I am an ambitious and self-driven young man. I believe so much in myself and ability of the youth to do a lot.
“But this country, particularly poor representation in the corridor of power has been limiting our potentials to grow. This is one of the things I am coming to address, if I am given the honor of being election,” he promised.
As a first timer, contesting on the platform of a political party that has almost zero structure in the Constituency he is representing, Walexy insisted that he has a better chance, compared to his two other contenders.
“Plus I am also better than the two other candidates. I am better because I am younger than all of them; I am bringing quality representation to the people and maintains cordiality with my constituents, through a monthly townhall meetings, something that has not been done by people who have held the position before.
“These are in addition to the policy that I am going to be canvassing for, which will boost the youth innovation and technological drive,” he said.
