Some unidentified armed men, said to be kidnappers have seized former Senator Nelson Effiong in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

According to reports, Effiong who represented Akwa Ibom South Senatorial district was kidnapped at about 9pm on Sunday night.

It was gathered that the armed men who were said to be three stormed a popular lounge owned by the Effiong.

According to eyewitnesses, they shot sporadically into the air before making away with the the former lawmaker in a Toyota Camry car.

About eight persons reportedly sustained various degrees of injuries from the attack.
