Air Vice Marshal Sikiru Smith (retd.), who was abducted on Monday in the Ajah area of Lagos State has been released.

According to Punch, the retired General was released in the early hours of Saturday.

The Lagos State Police Command’s spokesman, Adekunle Ajisebutu has confirmed his release.

“I can confirm that he has been released,” he said.

Some unidentified gunmen had abducted Air Vice Marshal, Sikiru Smith (rtd) in the late hours of Monday while supervising a site in Ajah, Lagos State.

This was also confirmed in a panic audio released by Smith’s driver, Corporal Odichi. According to the voice note, the retired AVM engaged in a struggle with the gunmen before he was subdued.

Odichi in the audio disclosed that his principal was abducted in Ajah and forcefully whisked away via a boat that sailed towards the Ikorodu area of the State.

The current Chairman of Double Wealth Ventures Limited – a dredging and engineering firm – was supervising work on a site in the Ajah area of Lagos State on Monday when masked gunmen invaded the place and shot into the air to scare away people.
