Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has disclosed that some suspected hoodlums who invaded the Kano State High Court during the #EndBadGovernance protests stole crucial documents relating to the alleged corruption charges nailed against former Governor of the state, and current national chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress(APC) Senator Abdullahi Ganduje.
Yusuf, who spoke with the press on Wednesday after assessing the court premises, described the invasion as a “masterminded and stage-managed mission.”
Accompanied by the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Haruna Isah Dederi, the governor said the attack on the Kano State High Court is an attempt to disrupt the ongoing legal case against Ganduje.
He said: “Unfortunately, enemies of Kano State hired undesirable elements to vandalize one of the historic public buildings with a mission of averting corruption charges against the Acting National Chairman of APC and former governor of the state, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, his family, and aides.”
Yusuf also counseled young individuals in the State to refrain from partaking in acts of violence influenced by those who oppose them. Instead, he urged them to dedicate their efforts towards acquiring valuable skills for the purpose of securing a more promising future.
“I urge our youth to resist being used as tools for violence. The future is in your hands, and you should concentrate on skills acquisition for a better tomorrow,” the governor said.
He also assured the public that the judiciary, as the last hope of the common man, would be protected at all costs. He said he has already directed the immediate rehabilitation of the court building and the deployment of enhanced security measures to ensure effective justice delivery.
“We will not relent in securing the lives and property of the people of Kano State. The judiciary must be protected to ensure justice for all,” Yusuf added.
