  • Governor Withholds 10,000 Workers Salaries Employed By Ganduje

By Charles Adingupu

The feud between the immediate past Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and the incumbent, Abba Kabir Yusuf is far from over.

Fresh crisis is currently brewing between the duo as the incumbent recently ordered the State’s Accountant General to stop the salaries of 10,800 workers employed by his predecessor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

The new administration had earlier accused Ganduje of illegally employing over 10,000 workers at the twilight of his administration.

The Accountant General, Abdulkadir Abdusalam, who announced the Governor’s directive on Monday, said his office was ordered to remove the names of the affected workers from the state’s payroll.

He further stated that his office would carry out an investigation to find out the genuineness of their engagement and the procedures followed so as to ascertain those validly recruited.

Concerning local government workers in the state, Mr. Abdusalam disclosed that those who were converted to state workers by the former administration would continue to receive their salaries.

However, he said it would be based on local government scale, and directed them to continue working in their new MDAs until the investigation is concluded.
