Amidst escalating tension caused by the tussle over the royal stool of the Emir of Kano, Governor Abba Yusuf is presently meeting with security chiefs in the state, reports indicated.

Present at the closed-door meeting also is the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi ll.

The meeting is coming amidst the ongoing dispute within the royal family, causing unease throughout the state.

This also comes after the Kano State Police Command declared that they won’t arrest the deposed Emir of Kano, Alhaji Bayero as ordered by Governor Abba Yusuf.

Commissioner of Police in Kano, Mohammed Usain Gumel stated this at a briefing on Saturday.

The police commissioner said he would abide by the court ruling of the Federal High Court of the state, which barred the state government from reinstating Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II.

It would be recalled that Justice Mohammed Liman of the Kano State High Court had granted an ex-parte order halting the implementation of the new law that abolished the four emirates of Bichi, Gaya, Karaye, and Rano.
