Following the resolution of the #EndBadGovernance demonstrations, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has rescinded the curfew imposed on the city.

The governor made this known in a press statement issued by his media Aide, Salisu Yahya Hotoro.

Yusuf said the decision to lift the curfew was reached following intelligence reports that peace has returned to several parts of the state.

“The 24-hour curfew slammed on Kano has been effectively lifted as peace has completely returned to the city,” the statement declared.

The New Diplomat reports that violence rocked Kano during the just-concluded #EndBadGovernance protests.

The protest, which started peacefully, spiralled into violence. Suspected hoodlums were said to have attempted to loot shops, including a Rufaida yoghurt outlet, but were dispersed by security agents.

Some public and private properties across Kano were attacked. Notably, the newly built Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Industrial Park was set ablaze, with looters making away with desktop computers, chairs, keyboards, and other appliances from the facility.

Following the development, the government slammed a 24-hour curfew on the city and later reduced it to 6:00 am to 6:00 pm to allow opportunity for business activities.
