The headquarters office of a faction of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Kano State has been burnt down by suspected hoodlums.

The building, situated along Maiduguri Road in Kano metropolis, is being used by the faction led by former Kano governor, Ibrahim Shekarau.

Though the persons responsible for the attack were yet unknown as at press time, sources have allegedly linked it to the second faction in the state.

Recall that the Kano State chapter of the APC is suffering a leadership crisis at the moment.

The party is divided into two factions, one loyal to Shekarau, the other loyal to the sitting Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

The attack is also coming on the heels of the ruling of a Federal High Court, Abuja, nullifying the state congress conducted by Ganduje faction on October 18.

Two factions of the party in the state had conducted parallel congresses on October 18 but the party endorsed the one conducted by the Ganduje faction.

While the Shekarau-led faction elected Haruna Danzago as chairman the Ganduje camp elected Abdullahi Abbas.

The National Appeal Committee set up by the APC later recognised Abbas as chairman of the party in the state.

Shekarau, who was not satisfied with the decision, filed a lawsuit at the high Court seeking the nullification of the congress held by Ganduje.

The presiding judge, Hamza Muazu, granted the requests and upheld the congresses conducted by the Shekarau faction.

The judge also made an order restraining the Ganduje faction from appointing a new executive.

Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to put out the fire as a team of police has been deployed to return normalcy to the affected areas.
