  • Asks Security Agencies To Probe Governor’s Alleged Link

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on security agencies to urgently probe into an alleged link of a North-West governor to the endless banditry attacks and abductions that have turned the region into a violent crime zone in the country.

The call comes amid the public backlash that the abduction of the Kankara School boys, later released Thursday, had generated.

Reacting to a protest organised by the Peoples Democratic Party and its women wing in Abuja, Thursday, the APC warned the opposition party against politicising the abduction of school boys in Kastina state.

The APC in a statement in Abuja on Thursday, by its Ag. Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, accused the PDP of seeking to benefit from the insecurity in the country to score political points.

Nabena, who came short of naming the North-west governor due to the sensitive nature of the intelligence report, lamented the increased spate of banditry in the North-west, saying it’s not unconnected to the unnamed Governor.

He alleged that the Northwest Governor has been sponsoring banditry and other violent crimes in the region.

“Our security agencies have intelligence reports linking one of the North West governors of colluding and sponsoring the violent and crimimal activities of bandits in the zone. I won’t give details because of the sensitive and security nature of the issue.

“However, relevant security agencies must as a mater of urgency investigate the report and determine its veracity. Human life is not what we should play political chess games with.

“We must shun enemies of the country including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who seek political gains from issues of insecurity.

“Our security agencies must also be alert to plots to further destabilise the North-west region and frustrate the quick and safe release of students abducted following late Kankara Katsina State: Student kidnapping for [GSSS Kankara Katsina State] secondary school,” Nabena said.
