Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Sunday met actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh at the Rogers Centre – a stadium in Downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Their meeting came hours before Dosanjh’s show at the venue.

“Canada is a great country — one where a guy from Punjab can make history and sell out stadiums. Diversity isn’t just our strength. It’s a super power,” the Canadian Prime Minister wrote.

Sharing a picture of their meet, Trudeau, in an X post, said, “Stopped by the Rogers Centre to wish Diljit Dosanjh good luck before his show.”

“Canada is a great country — one where a guy from Punjab can make history and sell out stadiums. Diversity isn’t just our strength. It’s a super power,” the Canadian Prime Minister wrote.

The relations between India and Canada came under severe strain following Trudeau’s allegations in September last year of a “potential” involvement of Indian agents in Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s killing.

New Delhi rejected Trudeau’s charges as “absurd”.

India has been maintaining that the main issue between the two countries is that of Canada giving space to pro-Khalistan elements operating from Canadian soil with impunity.

In June this year, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said India’s main issue with Canada continues to be the political space that Ottawa provides to anti-India elements which advocate extremism and violence.

India has repeatedly conveyed its “deep concerns” to Canada and New Delhi expects Ottawa to take strong action against those elements, he had said.
