Less than a week after the rape and gruesome murder of Vera Omozuwa, a 100-level Microbiology student of University Of Benin, Edo State, another student named Barakat Bello was alleged to have been murdered in Ibadan, Oyo state capital, by yet-to-be identified persons.

18-year-old Barakat of the Federal College of Animal and Production Technology Moore Plantation, Ibadan, was attacked by the rapists at her home in Akinyele area of Ibadan on Monday.

After the dastard act on Barakat leading to her death, her corpse was reportedly dumped at a point near her house. Both her father, Mr Kasimu Elepo and the sister were not at home when the dare-devil gang struck.

Speaking with newsmen, Elepo said: “I was not at home when the incident happened. The younger sister was not at home too, she went for Quaranic lessons but when she returned home, she saw her at the back of the house with deep cuts all over her body. She had been raped and killed.

“Somebody called me on the phone that I should come home but he refused to tell me what happened. When I got home, I saw that my daughter had been raped and stabbed to death.”

Barakat was reportedly buried on Tuesday according to Islamic rites.
