Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Sunday expressed sadness over the demise of a former Chief Judge of Delta State, Justice James Omo-Agege and described him as a reputable jurist whose seminal judgements would continue to serve as precedents in the legal profession.

Saraki in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, in Abuja, said the late Chief Judge, who is the father of the Senator representing Delta Central, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, departed at a time his services were most needed.

He commiserated with the Omo-Agege’s Dynasty of Orhomurun Orogun, Senator Ovie, the Government and people of Delta State over death of the patriarch.

Saraki said: “My heart goes out to the Omo-Agege’s family and the entire people of Edo and Delta States, whom the late Justice served so diligently during his active years.

“A cursory look at Justice Omo-Agege’s years on the Bench, reveals a trailblazer, a man of courage and integrity with deep knowledge of the law which he applied for the benefit of the society. His contributions to the development of the Judiciary in particular and the country in general are highly remarkable.

“I cannot but agree with you that ‘his love for the rule of law and the judiciary is etched in history for all time. We can only celebrate his greatness.’ He will be sorely missed,” he said.

While praying for the sweet repose of the soul of the deceased, Saraki urged the family to be consoled by the worthy legacy of selflessness and distinguished service left behind by their patriarch.
