Special Assistant to Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa on Youth development, Comrade Okiemute Sowho has been reportedly murdered in cold blood by unknown gunmen.
Okiemute was said to have been murdered in the late hours of Saturday in Sapele, Delta State by gunmen suspected to be hired killers.
Sowho, who is said to be in his early 40s was allegedly shot at a close range around 6 pm, near a popular hotel along Akintola road, Sapele.
According to multiple sources, the deceased had gone to check a building in the vicinity when the suspected assailants surfaced suddenly and opened fire on him, before speeding away in a vehicle believed to be a white Venza, which they purportedly came with.
The New Diplomat’s checks show that Sympathisers reportedly took the deceased to a top him to a private hospital in the area where doctors confirmed him dead on arrival before his remains were deposited in the mortuary.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Edafe Bright who confirmed his death said that “it’s true that we have a report that aide to the governor was killed; however, we are yet to get detail.”
The Police Command Spokesperson however promised to get back to our reporter with more details. He said investigation has commenced.
Comrade Sowho, a former Councillorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ward 3 in Sapele Local Government Area, ‘Daddy K’ as he is popularly called, was a strong supporter of Governor Okowa.
It would be recalled that last year, Sowho was appointed Special Assistant to the Governor on youth development, a position he held until his untimely dealth.
