The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday announced the expulsion of several high-profile members, including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose.
The announcement, made during the party’s National Convention in Ibadan, also confirmed the expulsion of the suspended National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and several other key figures.
The PDP said the expulsions are a direct result of alleged anti-party activities and months of escalating hostilities within the opposition party.
The action was “promptly ratified by an overwhelming majority of delegates,” highlighting the party’s “commitment to restoring unity, discipline, and focus ahead of the 2027 general elections.”
This was confirmed in an official statement released by PDP across its social media handles.
The statement reads in part: “In a landmark move to restore unity, discipline, and focus ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at its ongoing 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, has expelled high-profile members Nyesom Wike, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN), former Governor Ayo Fayose, Austin Nwachukwu, and several others.
“The decision, which was promptly ratified by an overwhelming majority of delegates, underscores the party’s commitment to eradicating internal divisions and anti-party conduct that have plagued its progress.”
