Reports emerged Monday morning that police have taken over the premises of the National Health Insurance Scheme headquarters, Abuja to prevent protest by workers of the agency.

The protest action follows the reinstatement of the NHIS DG, Prof. Umar Yusuf by President Muhammadu Buhari last week despite N919 million alleged fraud hanging on him.

It was gathered that police men were brought in ahead of workers’ arrival to the premises so as to stall the planned protest.

Last Thursday, some employees of the National Health Insurance Scheme under the aegis of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria and the Joint Health Sector Union held a protest at the NHIS.
