Three persons have been arrested by the men of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), over their alleged connection to the attempted assassination of Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State.

Col. Paul Hemba (rtd), Security Adviser to Ortom revealed to newsmen on Tuesday that the three suspects arrested were Jukun fishermen.

The New Diplomat had reported that Ortom was attacked on his farm in Tyo Mu, along Makurdi- Gboko highway on Saturday.

According to Hemba, the team of policemen conducting investigations at the scene of the attack, found the three suspected fishermen.

This is coming after Adamu Mohammed, Inspector-General of Police(IGP) had deployed a team of Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) to Benue State, in a bid to conduct a thorough investigation into the attack on the governor as mandated by President Muhammadu Buhari.
