The Niger State Commissioner of Education, Hajiya Jibrin Salihu on Friday announced January 25th, 2020 as resumption date for schools in the state.

In a statement released in Minna, the state capital, the ministry said the schools will be reopened in line with the guidelines given by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, (NCDC) as schools reopen for academic activities.

“With the report of Covid-19 second wave and spike of the global pandemic, the ministry felt obligated to challenge the pandemic with various caution” the statement read.

She further added that, “after our consultation with different stakeholders, all schools are resume January 25, 2020 to enable us put the necessary protective measures in compliance with Covid -19 protocols”

However, Salihu urged principals, teachers and students to maintain physical distancing, proper wearing of facemask, adherence to sanitation protocols and daily temperature checks for students in order to curtail the spread of Coronavirus in the state.
