The Registrar of the National Examinations Council (NECO), Professor Godswill Obioma, has been assassinated by some unidentified armed men in Abia State.
According to reports, the armed men invaded the residence of Obioma in Abia State and strangled him to death.
The wife of the deceased, Elizabeth Obioma has also confirmed the incident to news men.
According to Elizabeth, the suspected assassins came into their residence and murdered her husband without taking anything in the house.
“The assassins came in and killed him and left without taking anything,” the wife stated.
Elizabeth also disclosed her husband had just returned from a trip to Abuja when the assassins pounced on him.
The incident is coming few days after a former presidential aide and a party Chief of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was murdered in Imo State.
Obioma, 67, hailed from Abia State. He was appointed as the Registrar of NECO on the 22 May 2020 by President Muhammadu Buhari.
He also served as an Ebonyi State Resident Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
