The Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman has appealed to the three university-based unions who are currently on strike over unpaid withheld salaries to reconsider their decision.

The unions are the senior staff association of Nigerian universities, SSANU, The National Association of Academic Technologists, NAAT and the Non-academic Staff unions of educational and associated institutions.

The meeting however did not categorically mention when the four months withheld salaries to the workers will be paid.
