Bello Matawalle, Governor of Zamfara state, has directed the closure of all boarding schools across the state.

The directive is less than 24 hours after suspected bandits abducted about 317 students of the Government Girls Secondary School(GSSC), in Jangebe, Talata-Mafara local government area of the state.

Speaking at a press conference, the Governor said the directive was issued in a bid to strengthen the security situations of the state.

In his words, “As we are making efforts to strengthen security around our schools, I have directed the immediate closure of all boarding secondary schools across the state.”
