The former Managing Director of the Interim Management Committee of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Joi Nunieh has been rescued by Governor Nyesom Wike after the men of the police besieged her residence in Port Harcourt early Thursday.
The New Diplomat earlier reported that Nunieh’s residence was stormed by police men who had reportedly attempted to arrest her.

Nunieh who narrated the development on an Arise TV programme said, she is currently at the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt following the intervention of Governor Wike.

She said the operatives had laid siege to her residence as early as 4:am Thursday.
According to Nunieh, the armed police men later forced their way into her premise.
But she informed that the arrival of Wike at the scene stopped the operatives from getting hold of her. In a video, the Governor was seen ordering the men to vacate the premise as he quickly whisked her to the Government House, using his official vehicle.

The New Diplomat reports Nunieh was preparing to appear before a Senate panel on Thursday before the police stormed her residence. The panel has been probing the allegations of financial recklessness up to the tune of N81bn at the NDDC.
Nunieh has made sundry allegations on the ongoing probe of the NDDC and against the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio.

She had accused the minister of sexual harassment, intimidation and contract fraud on projects awarded by the NDDC.
The Minister has dismissed all the allegations coming from Nunieh. He said “she is a disgruntled former MD,” in one of his rebuttals.
