The Embassy of the United States in the Turkish capital was was on Monday attacked by unknown men, a police spokesperson said.
He said attackers  opened fire from a vehicle, but no victims or major material damage were reported.

The spokesman for the US mission, David Gainer, issued a communiqué in which he thanked the Turkish police for their prompt response, and explained that the details of the incident are under investigation.

The attack was perpetrated at 5 am, local time, and the shots hit a post of security guards who protect the embassy.

The police immediately sent squad cars to the scene and are seeking for the perpetrators of the attack.
