U.S. President, Donald Trump on Monday left the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center where he was receiving treatment for COVID-19 to return to the White House.

Wearing a mask, Trump walked from a hospital building to a limousine that took him to Marine One for the short helicopter flight to the White House.

He replied to a shouted question by a reporter about how many people are infected at the White House by saying: “Thank you very much.”

Marine One touched town on the South Lawn shortly before 7 p.m. ET. Trump walked off the helicopter, climbed the steps of the South Portico and removed his mask. Flanked by American flags, Trump gave several thumbs up and saluted Marine One as it took off and then entered the White House. It was not clear whether Trump put his mask back on inside.

Trump tweeted earlier that he was feeling “better than I did 20 years ago.”

“Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life,” the president said in comments that drew criticism with the U.S. death toll from COVID-19 over 200,000.
